Let’s dive in… 👇

I want to start this week’s bulletin with a quick story from my own business.

Back in November, a potential customer came in for an initial chat about lessons. They seemed interested, but after that first meeting, they went completely silent.

I added them to my follow-up list and decided to check in every week. Week after week, I sent polite, helpful follow-ups… but heard nothing back. No replies. No updates. Nothing.

It would’ve been easy to give up.

But I kept going.

This week—three months later—they finally responded. It turns out they’d been away the whole time and hadn’t seen my earlier messages. They apologised for the delay and said they wanted to start lessons straight away.

This reminded me of one of the most valuable lessons in business: consistency wins.

89.8% of businesses have given up.

That’s right—almost 9 out of 10 businesses quit before they’ve made enough contact with a potential customer.

Here’s the million-dollar question:
How many times should you contact a customer on your list before you give up?

If you’re like most businesses, you’re probably giving up far too early.

Let’s look at the numbers:

  • After just 2 contact attempts, 50% of businesses have already thrown in the towel.

  • By the third attempt, that number jumps to 65%.

  • After four failed attempts, a whopping 79% have given up.

  • And after five attempts, an unbelievable 89.8% have stopped trying.

Now, here’s the secret that separates the winners from the quitters:
Persistence pays off.

Why does persistence work so well?

Because your competitors are quitting.

The more times you contact your potential customers, the more likely you are to win their business. Big companies know this—that’s why they advertise relentlessly.

Think about it. When was the last time you saw a single ad for Coca-Cola or Nike? Never. They show up again and again and again.

Why? Because repetition builds trust, familiarity, and visibility.

This applies to your business too.

So, how many times should you reach out before giving up?

At least 10 times.

When you consistently stay in front of your audience, you position yourself as the obvious choice. Most of your competitors will have dropped off after just a few attempts, but you’ll still be standing.

It’s a simple formula:
The more consistent you are, the less competition you’ll face.

Here’s an actionable tip:

Create a follow-up schedule that includes at least 10 touchpoints. Mix it up with:

  • Emails

  • Social media ads

  • Phone calls

  • SMS messages

  • Direct mail

Keep it consistent. Keep it valuable. Keep going.
