Goals...
Hello everyone,
This week, the Business Builder Bulletin is diving into:
šāāļø The power of setting goals (and sticking to them)
š Why businesses with clear targets succeed faster
š§ The psychology behind written goals
āļø Your action step to get focused and grow stronger
š From Pavement to Purpose: My 10K Target
So hereās a personal one for youā¦
Iāve been training for the Great Manchester Run 10K.
Not an easy featāespecially when your knees donāt bend quite like they used to! (I wonāt tell you my age⦠unless you ask nicely š)
When I first started, I could barely jog 3K without sounding like a steam engine. But I set a target: run 3-4 times a week, and always hit at least 10K.
At first, it was tough. Cold mornings. Sore legs. Self-doubt. But I had a goalāand that goal gave me direction, discipline, and motivation.
And hereās the key: because I had a specific, written goal, I started showing up more consistently. I started improving. I started believing.
Now Iām not just running 10KāIām enjoying it.

šÆ The Business Case for Targets
Itās no different in business.
If you donāt know what youāre aiming for⦠how will you ever know if youāre on track?
You wouldnāt go out on a run without a distance in mind. So why run a business without a goal?
Hereās what the research shows:
š¢ 14% of people who set goals are 10 times more successful than those who donāt
š The 3% who write down their goals are 3x more successful than the 14% with unwritten goals
Thatās not just motivation talk. Thatās backed by psychology and performance studies.
š Why Written Goals Work
Written goals give you:
ā
Clarity ā You know exactly what you're aiming for
ā
Focus ā You waste less time on distractions
ā
Accountability ā Youāre more likely to follow through
ā
Measurement ā You can track your progress and celebrate milestones
š§ Real Talk: What Happens Without Goals?
No targets = No growth.
When you drift without direction, everything feels reactive. You spend your days putting out fires instead of building momentum.
But with clear goals?
š„ You build systems
š§± You make stronger decisions
š You measure results
š„ You grow with purpose
āļø Your Business Goal Checklist
So⦠have you written down your business goals?
If not, hereās your action step:
š Grab a pen. Right now. Or open a blank note. And write the answer to this:
Whatās the ONE result I want to achieve in my business over the next 90 days?
Then ask:
How will I measure success?
What will I do weekly to stay on track?
Who will I tell to keep me accountable?
Start there. Keep it simple. Build momentum.
šāāļø From 0K to 10KāIt All Starts With One Step
Running a business is like training for a 10K.
If you want to go further, fasterāand feel proud at the finish lineāyou need to set your course.
No more vague hopes. No more āletās just see how it goes.ā
Set a target. Write it down. Stick to it.
Youāll be amazed at what you can achieve when the goal is clear and the purpose is strong.
Hereās to running your business with direction and confidence,
Graeme
